A three-layer reduction print, on Hosho paper adapted from a newspaper photo that caught my eye. The reflections of the birds are also their shadows.
The strong light of summer fell on some fruit stems lying on the studio table. I photographed the stems and their shadows and traced around the shapes, then used them for a reduction woodcut. Having forgotten to flip my drawing before transferring it to the board, I found myself making a second, correct, version - and was able to experiment with printing on the reverse to subtly change the colours.

Streetlights shine through an uncurtained window, hit a flat mirror and then ricochet between it and a round mirror nearby, casting their shadows onto a bare wall. The photograph of the phenomenon was itself mirrored and then digitally manipulated, resulting in a cutting plan for the five layers of this reduction print.
