Artist Statement

Touching on subconscious thoughts and stories I thrive on being in an inner world, finding threads creating scenarios which re-create a parallel world through the eyes of innocence.

I draw daily progressing an idea not knowing where it may lead. This method of work is the foundation of my practice.

‘Glass Town’ is my most recent project centred around a couple who’s daily lives are thrown into question when they awaken to a paused world. Crystal’s, glass chess pieces and mountains lead them on a journey to reflect on their lives. Still in its’ early stages there are sixty drawings, two large etchings / linocuts, six linocuts and the beginnings of six etchings all produced since lockdown.

My preferred printmaking mediums are linocut and etching. I particularly enjoy linocut with the fineries of line and freedom of pattern making.

Over the past six years I have been drawn to producing large prints. Working larger and more ambitiously allows me more time to pause and reflect on the image. In my most recent prints etching and linocut are brought together in one print which has been both technically and physically challenging to master.
