For A Long Moment

We are delighted to be the inaugural exhibition in the wonderful newly re-designed and extended Morley Gallery and would like to thank Jack Davy and his team, Brendan Murphy and Sara Robertson -Jonas for their support.

The show is a curated selection of work encompassing a wonderful, exciting range of drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography and installation. It demonstrates the rich achievements of each artist individually, as well as the benefits of alternative models of learning to increase access to a peer group coming from a wide range of histories, background and experience.

The course aims to form a bridge between being a student and independent practice, through a year of mentoring where students work in their own studios but are supported through tutorials, workshops and artists talks. Students forge a strong creative community, culminating in organising their final exhibition. This year has proved especially challenging and rewarding due to the pandemic their success is particularly impressive and is largely due to the support they have both given each other and received throughout the course.

With special thanks for the invaluable contributions made by the following visiting artists this year; Dan Howard-Birt, Rosalind Davis, Justin Hibbs, Barbara Nicholls, and Anne Ryan.

I congratulate each mentee on this exciting exhibition, I am very proud of them and confidently look forward to seeing their continuing artistic journeys.
