AL 13 uses digital printing onto anodised aluminium, an industrial technique used in sign-making, to translate photographic images into jewellery.

I’ve been particularly fascinated by objects whose history is visible on their surfaces, in which every chip or scratch, every peeling layer of paint, represents an event in the life of the object – the passage of time revealed in the material world. But I’m also interested in architecture, flowers, water – all ways of connecting to my surroundings and finding beauty in the everyday.

The cuffs and earrings are crafted using traditional jewellery techniques, with hand-made sterling silver findings. Simple shapes let the colours and textures speak for themselves, while the aluminium base lends a subtle glow to the printed images, almost reminiscent of Japanese lacquer work.

Each piece is unique: affordable, wearable jewellery that is distinctive and quirky, with a post-industrial edge.
