ALIEN ARTEFACT

Alien Artefact brings together a joyful collection of objects produced by Morley students, tutors and the ZR Scholar: Veronika Neukirch. They were selected due to their use of light and alien qualities. This year’s scholar curated the work-in-progress show to reflect the Morley College learning environment, comprising of tutors as well as students, shining light on cross-overs in sensibilities to material in a diverse range of practices.

The centre piece, Veronika Neukirch (2022), Unity was inspired by a –then– anonymous wooden souvenir. During the exhibition install, it was identified by one of Morley College’s security guards as ‘Abusua’, the 3-headed Ghanaian symbol which stands for family or a tight-knit community that is founded on mutual support. A happy accident that fits the exhibition’s ethos perfectly.
