THE FOYER
Zsuzsi Roboz Permanent Collection
Zsuzsi Roboz was a British-Hungarian artist well known for her celebrity portraits. Following her death in 2012, she left a bursary for the support and education of young artists, which has found a home as the Zsuzsi Roboz Trust Scholarship at Morley College London.
In 2022 the Zsuszi Roboz Trust donated a large portrait “Iraria from Pescaria” which has hung in the Waterloo Foyer since, and over the summer of 2024 the Trust placed a number of works by Roboz on sale through David Messum Gallery. The College was able to purchase four pieces from this sale for the Morley College Art Collection, to be used in exhibitions and to brighten and enrich College spaces.
One of these works, a self-portrait lithograph, is in the current “It’s a Lot Like Life”, the Zsuzsi Roboz Scholarship exhibition. The other three are presented here, a bronze resin bust, a pencil portrait and a more abstract depiction of dancers. These will soon find permanent homes around the College estate, but are for now displayed here together, a celebration of a remarkable artist and her legacy at Morley College London.
