ASUN BASSAS & LOENE FURLER

2 - 12 April 2025

Asun Bassas: I am reflecting my artistic journey inspired by 8 years travelling the world. This collection captures the essence of diverse cultures, landscapes and moments that left lasting impressions on me. Each work invites the viewer to experience not just a place, but the feelings and sensations associated with it. Through colours, textures and forms these pieces represent a personal response to global encounters. From bustling to serene environments Impressions reflects the diversity of human experience. I am using this exhibition to convey how travel can alter our perceptions, opening us to new ways of seeing the world and ourselves. Each piece is like a post card from a unique moment, frozen in time and expressed through my artistic interpretation. The coded sensory driven approach is a fascinating way to share my experiences with the public.

Loene Furler was born in Melbourne and now lives in Adelaide South Australia. However, since the late 1960s when she lived in London she has travelled regularly and when not travelling physically she has imagined being a tourist travelling the world. Consequently many of her paintings are the result of standing in the landscape or a space with a still life such as ‘Farm still life.’ She works primarily in oils using traditional techniques with contemporary ideas and this is what she mainly taught along with Art history at the Adelaide College for the Arts.
