In my work for this final HND year I have been exploring structure; the bold domes of ancient and contemporary architecture and the distinctive geometric pattern of Art Deco design.

Retro Deco - I have taken the Art Deco style of large structures; ships and buildings, and reduced the scale to smaller functional lidded jars. These are slipcast stoneware or porcelain. I’ve also had some fun with colour, and a retro connection to the sweet-toothed taste of my childhood.

Towers – Inspired by the grand domes of ancient mosques, churches and dwellings, these towers are built from single dome shapes thrown in white or black stoneware, joined and turned. The ‘Windows’ allow to see inside, creating shadow and edges for runny glazes to break over.
