Artist’s Statement
The birth of the online Sculpture Course suited me really well. My previous attendances at London Colleges had meant a long and tiring journey. In my own work I use mostly handmade paper and plant material for dyes. At home it would be quiet without all the processes and machines designed explicitly to make ear splitting noises. It would also provide regular human interaction in Lockdown, albeit through dreaded Teams, Zoom, etc. Oh joy ! It turned out to have a super tutor, a diverse group of students skilled in different materials and methods. Best of all, perhaps, it nudged me out of my Sculptural comfort zone.
