Pigalle Tavakkoli, ‘Moments in nature’

My approach is informed by the natural environment, following the textures of leaves and foliage, variation of marks caused by ripples across the surface of a lake, and colours drawn from flowers growing wild in fields. These impressions are painted onto cotton strips, overlaid with hand stitches echoing the marks, and then attached to knitted strips. The knitted strips incorporate a mixture of gifted and bought wool, yarns, parcel string and ribbons. The rows interplay with levels of opacity, at times revealing the scenery behind and beyond, while at other occupied with their density.
