What We Do: Printmaking and Bookbinding
As Programme Manager for Printmaking and Bookbinding (including Calligraphy!) I am privileged to work with some of the best artists in town. Each tutor brings expertise and years of artistic practice to their work at Morley College- their classes reflect that. The current team are artists and craftspeople, plus great teachers with a love of sharing their knowledge and enthusiasms, from tutor Carol Wilhide Justin sharing her love of Japanese Woodcut to Ian Rawlinson helping students learn the photo-etching techniques that are so important in his own work.
I have enjoyed curating this exhibition that highlights the ways in which tutors work across a range of different media. What is immediately apparent is the level of skill in the work, and the sense of personal discovery that each is engaged in. It reflects current preoccupations, addresses memory, loss, creativity and invents worlds. There is a sense of the difficult year that we have all experienced and other work that is playful and light-hearted.
I hope you enjoy delving into our exhibition, What We Do to find out more about us.
