Maggie Memory

Maggie Memory’s artworks are, imaginative representations of her daily walks in the local landscape, over a period of three months.  Recognisable images are distorted to convey a sense of foreboding, mystery, uncertainty and joy which represents the anxiety, isolation and emotional impact of ‘lock down’ and recovery.

Subtle washes in acrylic and gouache are overlaid with layers of acrylic paint which is scraped into, rubbed back and over painted with more detail to emphasise shape and create depth.  The opacity, depth, surface texture, confining geometric shapes and vibrant colours are dynamic and at the same time preternatural.

Artists that have influenced her artwork include Anselm Kiefer, Wassily Kandinsky, Anish Kapoor and Prunella Clough.
