Advanced Painting Practice
This exhibition presents work made by students on Morley’s Advanced Painting Practice course, taught by Steve Wright. Diversity is encouraged, with each artist finding or expanding a personal approach to subject-matter, materials and methods, drawing on the techniques and ideas taught in class. These paintings draw on a wide range of sources, including drawings, photographs, and memory.
This year, landscape is a common theme, ranging from expansive seascapes to a corner of a back garden. Some of these works are a personal response to the COVID-19 lockdown, from a group of painters whose course had to transition from the Morley studio to home working and online teaching.
