My work is always heavily affected by my thoughts and emotions. For this reason the only thing I could possibly work on currently is the state of the world since this year started. Because of this, my project is titled ‘2020, the broken year’. My aim is to explore the changes to our everyday lives and thoughts due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as changes to majorly important matters such as the rights of black individuals worldwide with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. It is a document of my experiences and opinions as a young black woman living in London as these events unfold. My aim is always to convey my own emotional responses to stimuli through my work, with the hope of provoking the same emotions in those who see it, and considering the trials and tribulations of 2020, there was a lot to work with.
