A good piece of graphic design is a balancing act. It must have visual impact that is appropriate to the subject while simultaneously maintaining clear communication that is sensitive to the viewer’s needs. You must grab someone’s attention, hold it, and then inform them – not an easy thing to do in this image-rich, message-saturated world!

Students on the Level 3 Graphic Design Course at Morley College are taught the value of sketching out their ideas for good reason. Like science, design values a negative. When something’s isn’t right, that is just one step closer to something that eventually will be. Sketching provides a way to interrogate an idea quickly, producing iterations that all have value. From this position, having multiple ideas all together on one piece of paper allows for cross-pollination – like a happy bee in a field of flowers. 

This processing of the idea; through the analogue and towards the digital makes for 'Pixel-Perfect' designs.
