I am exploring different painting techniques, as well as concepts, such as ‘space’ and ‘the frame’. Searching for how to begin a painting and how to end one, why the start and the end product are often unrelated - the development aided by serendipity. I am really trying to explore myself rather than present an image to the outside world. I wish to shed all my past selves as well as various accumulations of received artistic influences (however, like peeling back an onion, I may never reach a core that is fundamentally new.) I aim to be neither mimetic nor didactic - just exploring and learning how to live with contradictions and inconsistencies.
