Sculpture

Made 2020 – Sculpture celebrates the talent, progress and creativity of Morley’s adult learners in the Sculpture department.

Curated by Morley Gallery Managers and Sculpture Programme Manager Sheila Vollmer, MADE aims to reflect the diversity of artworks produced by learners from different backgrounds, experience and levels of craftsmanship; using a variety of materials, techniques and approaches.

Morley College’s Sculpture Department has developed and retained an excellent reputation over many years boasting excellent provision of machinery, tools, unique courses and skilled tutors.

Courses are available for both experienced and budding beginner sculptors. Sculpture courses focus on a wide range of sculpture disciplines including well-resourced metalwork, clay life modelling, stone carving, woodcarving, and mould-making, as well as exploring diverse materials and processes. Other unique disciplines offered include Bronze and Pewter casting, Sculpture Automata/Puppets and Masks/Wearable sculpture. All of our courses are taught by our team of specialist practising artist Tutors; many of whom are highly regarded practitioners within their field.

Did you know ....Sculptor Henry Moore donated a small sculpture to Morley College in 1977, which was sold at auction and helped to raise money for the lease of Pelham Hall, a Victorian chapel on Lambeth Walk now converted into one of the best further Education Sculpture provisions. In return, the College named the Sculpture studio after him, written on the front of the build.
